North America:
Monarch Butterflies

Monarch butterflies are beautiful creatures, renowned for their vast journeys across North America. But were you aware that monarchs are endangered? And that it's because of climate change? All butterflies are sensitive to the weather and climate, our climate steadily rising is no good for these outstanding animals. Monarch caterpillars depend on the milk-weed for food and as the climate continues to rise, the milk-weed continues to die out, leaving the Monarchs with less and less places to lay their eggs. The increasing use of pesticides by us isn't making it any easier for them either, in fact, the Monarch population has fallen as much as 95% since the 1980's, that was only 40 years ago!
